About EVA
The literary work Eva, which caused a great stir when it was published in 1927 and was rediscovered during the second feminist wave in the 1970s, is now once again the symbol of the emancipatory movement and forms the basis for this eight-part podcast series. Van Bruggen’s stream-of-consciousness self-portrait, about the spiritual and sexual development of a young Jewish woman in conservative Netherlands, shows the search for a balance between the woman her environment wants her to be and the woman she wants to be herself.
The podcast EVA is narrated by actresses/singers Leny Breederveld, Jade Olieberg, Nastaran Razavi Khorasani, Stefanie Janssen, Funda Müjde, Mira Helmer, Helen Kamperveen, Claron McFadden. Their personal interpretations ensure a different listening experience every time. The music is played by the Amsterdam Ragazze Quartet. The company takes you into Eva’s atmospheric inner world, like a walk in the subconscious.
